2021 was a blessing from the Lord . We continued to maturate our homestead , we relaunched the Grocery quarrel Gardening labor I had begun in 2020 , we carry off to produce some very scrappy pumpkin vine as we tag a novel land raceway , and , best of all , properly before Christmas the Lord get off us Good Baby # 10 :
It was also a year of loss . We misplace our protagonist Sue and my booster Weatherly . Both are sorely miss .
As is my usual practice , I wrap up the year with a post debate what we accomplished and how well we did meeting the goals we congeal at the beginning of the twelvemonth .
My goal for the previous class were as follows :
GOAL I: Get the 2nd edition ofCreate Your Own Florida Food Forestin print
At the beginning of the year my sister Christi drive over direct the illustrators and the example . We ended up with 200 example from 54 artists , so it was quite a process . Unfortunately , my script layout cat ended up quite sick this year so the Scripture is not yet in print , though it ’s close . We trust to see it finished in 2022 .
GOAL II: Create an Epic Spring Garden
I write at the beginning of the year :
“ What I plan to do is to adapt the system ( I created in Grenada ) to a temperate climate and utilize different specie for the in high spirits vertical fate . Instead of bananas and pawpaw , we ’ll have Japanese persimmons , rabbit-eye blueberry blueberries , hazelnut and other temperate specie . I also design to space my 4′ beds as much as 3′ apart to give the system more space and sunlight .
We take a name for this system , though . It ’s almost like food forestry in strips . Fedges with veggies . Not the same as Syntropic Agriculture as it is n’t based on bananas and meticulous timing , but it ’s interchangeable . Anyhow , I ’ll fall up with a coolheaded name . I ’m excited about the conception and I ’m working on catch a lot of berry varieties , small trees , shrubs , chop and free fall , vegetables and blooms to mix in . ”
I ended up naming my gardening system Grocery wrangle horticulture , and we did indeed work up an epic garden over the class of the year .

GOAL III: Re-Launch A Plant Nursery
I terminate up not launching the nursery this twelvemonth because I was busy with committal to writing , YouTube and horticulture . It just was n’t deserving finishing , though I did make a little generation and plant baby’s room area . However , I did help my girl launch herGood Gardens seed store on Etsy .
GOAL IV: Become Proficient at Painting Portraits in Oil
Nope . I apply up on this once my gardens start growing in spring . I start to get back into painting almost every wintertime , and then when the weather warm up I have to go back to work on my gardens and my authorship and I drop the painting . As much as I want to be an artist , I must look the sad reality that I am a garden author first . mayhap one day .
I really still owe my sidekick - in - jurisprudence and his married woman a wedding portrait which I was supposed to paint months and month ago …
GOAL V: Get Back Into Shape
Yes . I did this . I have been attending the gym regularly since March and am now in much better shape than I was at the offset of the class .

I cut back on carbs and never stopped run low to the gym . It ’s now a habit , and I do n’t want to go back to being the way I was . Goal strike ! In 2022 I will remain going to the gymnasium three times a week . We ’ll see what I depend like this time next yr !

I also had some smaller goal at the beginning of the yr . As I wrote :
“ I am put to work on reading through the entire Bible this yr , plus I would like to see Jack Broccoli II in photographic print and I ’d also like to hit a goal of 2,000lbs of solid food again . ”
I am half - way through Revelation the right way now , so it seem like I ’ll make my Bible - indication goal . We also sawJack Broccoli IIreleased . As for the solid food goal , we probably hit it – or puzzle close – but I gave up on weighing everything . I acknowledge we had 400lbs of Cucurbita pepo and over 300lbs of potatoes , and that was just a piece of music of what we harvested .
I should make a 2022 goal of setting up a ripe weighing station for enter my harvests .

Yet in 2021 , I only wrote 156 post – my NEW worst year !

I should start posting every weekday again . YouTube has taken up some of the time I used to spend cultivate on this site . And speaking of YouTube …

I ’m trying to post a Modern video every weekday now – we ’ll see if I can keep that up in 2022 .

This fall we BLEW the launch ofGarden Heat , due to my layout guy ’s trip to the hospital and me flummox overwhelmed . There were 127 pre - orders that got cancelled because I did n’t brand the final ebook edition in time . That was frustrating , but it ’s life . I ’m really beaming my layout guy recoup , so I can continue to work him to death .
Other Stories
This twelvemonth we got lots of chickens plus two cats , two goats and two sheep . One of the sheep died and we gave the other one back . So far the cat and chicken and goats are alive , though I am tempted to feed the cats to a mulberry tree .
The egg provision from the henhouse has been consistently good , even through wintertime , and it ’s enceinte to have reinvigorated ballock for breakfast every Clarence Day . The goats do n’t pull their weight yet , though , as they are not producing tiddler or dairy farm at this point . Sometime this fresh yr we hope to have them cover and then they can become productive for us . At least they clear encounter .
We have meat birds that should be post to deep freezer bivouac in a few calendar week , which will be good . There are about 70 bird there , which will keep our category supplied with meat for a few months . If we ’re lucky , we ’ll also get a pair hundred pounds of venison from our neighbors .
God has submit wonderful tutelage of us this year , make us a new child , a great garden , a sound family , and even a fresh ( used ) van , plus a nice borrowed diesel truck , along with two pianos so the nestling can see to play we can record screen background medicine for YouTube .
