The General Meeting of the International Association of Horticultural Producers ( AIPH ) concluded the online edition of the 73rd Annual Congress on 21 October . The Congress , which included the AIPH Sustainability Conference on 30 September and the AIPH International Virtual Horticultural Expo Conference on 19 October , attracted over 200 delegates from more than 50 area .

During the 21 October General Meeting , members adopt part in governance elections . Stepping down from their place as Vice Presidents were Professor Zhang Qixiang of the China Flower Association and Mr. Tim Edwards of the UK ’s Horticultural Trade Association . take their spot are Mr. Zhou Jianping of the China Flower Association , who was part of the leadership team behind the horticultural Expo 2019 Beijing , and Mr. Leonardo Capitanio , an ornamental plant agriculturalist in Monopoli , Italy , and President of ANVE , Italy ’s National Association of Nursery Stock Exporters .

Also welcomed to the Board after a member ’ voter turnout is Mr. Martin Brijs , Production Manager of Palmstead Nurseries Ltd , UK , as Representative of Region I ( Europe I ) . He is taking over from Mr. Tim Edwards , Chair of Boningale .

Mr. Jack Goossens , Chair of the Supervisory Board of Royal FloraHolland , the Netherlands , was vote to represent Region II ( Europe II ) , replacing Mr. Gijs Kok . Mr. Goossens also succeeds Mr. Tim Edwards as Chair of the AIPH Ornamentals Production Committee .

As well as electing new member , Mr. Bernard Oosterom from the Netherlands was re - elect AIPH president , and Ms. Karen Tambayong , Chairperson of Horticulture at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and association fellow member of ASBINDO was re - elected as Representative of Region VIII ( Southeast Asia and Oceania ) .

Mr. Abe van Wingerden , Co - CEO of Metrolina Greenhouses , USA , and representative of AmericanHort , was also elected to the AIPH Board in 2021 .

Commenting on the new appointments , Bernard Oosterom commented “ I am very pleased to welcome the new Board phallus and I look onward to working with them as together we seek to support and speed the growth of the global decorative horticulture diligence . There has never been a better metre for our industriousness to push back forward our order of business and to demonstrate the purpose we can act as in tackling the challenges the Earth is facing . ”

Reflecting on recent years he bring , “ I would also like to carry my sincere gratitude to Tim Edwards , Zhang Qixiang and Gijs Kok for their tireless livelihood and dedication to AIPH during their full term on the Board . AIPH has benefited greatly from their work , and I wish them well for the future . ”
