These fuel pod are sweet , crispy , slightly naughty , luscious and shaped like informer ’s tails .

These distinctive vegetables are deserving of a more appetizing epithet than “ rat - seat . ” . When I started publish this post I was bothered by the name and the dishes I guess every time I typewrite “ rat - tail ” . So , I decided to research their chronicle and find something better to call them . There are several more sympathetic names used for these beauties : serpent radish , tail podded radish , spicy noggin , and aeriform radish plant . Of these name , aerial radish plant seems like a perfect pick . I will refer to them as such from now on . Why do n’t the seed companies do the same ? If they did , more multitude would be growing these fabulous crops . Nobody wants to come over for a dinner of rat - tails . But , if you did swear out “ ethereal radish siliques ” at a dinner party party , invitee would be astonied by these delicious cod .

From the current looks of our plants , that will probably materialise very soon because they are loaded .

I only planted a few seeds of aerial radishes , just enough to try them . Once they started farm , I realized I would get far more than just a predilection . They went from little neat look radish plants , to sprawling monsters in a matter of a couple of weeks . I love get bloom plants cascade down over the boundary of my beds , and I thought for a spell that these would do that . A protagonist of mine is grow a variety called Singara available fromBaker Creek Heirloom Seeds . The Singara assortment has much foresighted pods and is delineate as being the most oestrus - tolerant varietiy of all plodded Raphanus sativus . She is operate to share some of those seed with me and I ca n’t wait to try spring up them soon .

I will definately be planting the   Burmese and Singara   varieties next spring . When I do , I will be trusted to plant chronological sequence to extend the harvest of these distinctive treats further into the former summer month .

After tasting how scrumptious these are , I quickly started wishing I had a 2d crop of them in the ground this year . So , I fling a few seed in front of our bonce treillage and am skip for more of these sweet pods before extreme summer heat has a chance to defeat the industrial plant . Any of my readers in zone 7 or cooler probably still have plenty of time to get this fun crop growing this class .
