Gardening ideas from the other side of the world
Today we ’re visiting Tanya Kukreti ’s garden in India .
In four geezerhood , my garden went from nothing to this . I hold out on the slopes of the Himalayas in northern India . We bought this land a decennium back , and it did not have a single tree diagram . So we built our garden from prick .
If you live on the slopes of the Himalayas , you get views aplenty and a steep , slanting garden that might seem like a challenge . I love the contrast between the raving mad - looking daisies ( Leucanthemumvulgare , Zones 3–9 ) growing in informal drifts around the formal , round ponds filled with water lilies .

A rampart of geranium ( Pelargonium , Zones9–11 or as yearbook ) satiate this space with glorious color . Placing rows and rows of pots on tiered shelves like this makes a really dramatic assertion in a small space , and limiting the planting to one variety keeps the display unified and prevents it from feeling too busy . I ’m totally slip this estimation for my back deck next year !
An tremendous pate of thorns ( Euphorbiamilii , Zones 9–11 or as a houseplant ) cover in reddish blooms is back up by the dramatic leaves ofPhilodendron bipinnatifidum(Zones 10–11 or as a houseplant ) . These beautiful plants bring a peck of drama and color to a shaded area , and if you be somewhere too cold for them , during the winter they can come indoors and live on as houseplants until spring .
A profuse bed full of prime , with views of the mess behind .

A white blossom vine ( it search like it could be sweet-scented fall clematis , Clematisterniflora , Zones 4–9 ) tumbles dramatically down a stone continue paries . If you have a steep site , letting vines spill over edges is a great way to add flowers and beaut to otherwise inaccessible areas .
