The gardens at Community Hospice House in NH provide a peaceful escape for patients, family, caregivers while prioritizing biodiversity

We get so many very especial submissions on Garden Photo of the Day , but this one peculiarly so . As evident by the title , the subject matter in this post is a little heavy and I need to give a very light disclaimer . This berth focus on the garden , but does mention hospice care and the way patient , families , and stave are able to apply these amazing place . As someone who recently experienced loss and is a minuscule extra worked up , reading this compliance definitely brought a binge to my eye . greeting ! I co - lead a large team of consecrated volunteer who steward about 30 private garden beds throughout the Community Hospice House ( CHH ) holding in Merrimack , NH . The CHH garden are integral to the patient role / family / primary care provider experience , leave comfort and solace during difficult times .

Community Hospice House is dedicated to help people regain a peaceful and dignified end to their biography ’s journeying . It is part ofHome Health & Hospice Care of NH , a not - for - profits organization . Spacious patient rooms adapt families , and even visit from family pets , to comfort patients in their last week and days . Each room open to a private patio with view of the broad gardens that are lovingly lean by dedicated volunteers .
Views from surrounding patient rooms and patios , plebeian space and the outdoor court are cautiously consider as gardens are designed . The culmination of a six room offstage in 2023 and the addition of Modern gardens , leave us the opportunity to increase the landscape ’s pallet of coloration , texture and form . garden are connected with paths that reveal singular and extremely textural gardens with every turn .
Our intent is to promote biodiversity and stand local wildlife while building upon the beauty of the original gardens , planted in 2000 . The new gardens were designed with an stress on New England native plant and non - aboriginal pollinator plants that would complement the original garden . The termination are all-inclusive decorative garden with a emphatically realistic flair .
