Today ’s photos are from Jean Huot , who says,“Here in Connecticut many of us are anxiously waiting for Spring after the coldest February ever recorded for our state . With that in thinker , I decided to pull up some old video to prompt me why we New Englanders brave out such winters . When we had our home built back in 2000 , our .75 acre lot was wholly innocent of shrubs and trees . All we had was a novel lawn and some brambles in the backyard . I had strain to plan my landscaping , but with young kids and a circumscribed budget for horticulture , I did most of my shopping over the eld at end - of - season sales , causing frequent change to my plan . Also , realizing that I had only circumscribed time for maintain the yard , I have focused primarily on planting trees and shrubs . fortunately with so many area garden shops , I still managed to cumulate a nice variety of shrubs and Tree that blossom beautifully in Spring . In the pictures I have included , some of my favorite flora are shown – Gallic cross lilacs , ' Prairie Fire ' cultivated crab apple , ' Sugar Tyme ' crabapple , ' Snow Goose ' and ' Okame ' cerise trees , ' Olga Mezzitt ' rhododendrons , and a belittled collection of Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree peony ( these were an humoring even at “ bargain ” prices).“Jean , you were so implausibly smart to indue in tree diagram and shrubs from the outset , even when you did n’t have a lot of time ! Most of the gardener I know did n’t have time to really dig into horticulture until their kid were grown and out of the house . You have a head start on them in that your woody plant life are already in place , suppurate ! Your garden is lovely , and it cause me want to take off my shoe and walk barefooted through that lucullan grass , select in the scent of the lilacs and peonies . YUM ! Please make the snow stop … ..
