SixOnSaturday
It has been what we here in understatementland call “ a bit windy ” . High winds have been causing mayhem across the country . I am fortunate to have endure only from a few topple perennials , so have bewilder off softly liken to some . Today I will be transporting # 1 Child off to University in the wild of Up North . Well , North - ish . North of here at any rate . I will judge heavily not to begrudge too much the fourth dimension aside from the garden . The whole day though ! Could n’t he have chosen somewhere close ? distinctive .
I was reflecting this hebdomad on repeating in the garden . That ’s what gardens do – recur . From one twelvemonth to the next , shrubs do their thing ; perennials go forth , bloom then fade ; veg grows and gets reap . This is the natural rhythm we are accustomed to as gardeners . Few of us are lucky enough to have garden large enough , or the energy or time to maintain them , to generate a never finish stream of introduction Six on Saturday entries . This is true from one yr to the next , and also true within a give year . I am aware now of plant life and flowers making encore appearances in my own Six posts , and that ’s wholly hunky-dory . To be expected , even .

Time for Six on Saturday then . Six thing , in the garden , on a Saturday . Could be anything – a flower , a leaf , a tool , a plan , a completed project , a caper to do , anything at all . Join in !
Here are my Six for this calendar week .
1 – Fatsia Camellia japonica leaf . Thezombie handsof in the first place this year turned into a good 30 cm of new emergence this year , with flock of riotous green leaves . I ’m pleased with this shrub , bought on the recommendation of the blighter in the garden centre . I wanted a good size shrub that would work well in a shady nook . He was bang on , I think .

2 – Geranium ‘ Bloom prison term ’ . In an enactment of horticultural mercy which I know in my bones you ’ll both support and applaud , I rescued a number of dead good works from the bargain shelf at my local garden nub . I do n’t presently have anywhere to plant them , but really , should that give up me ? No , did n’t consider so .
3 – Dahlia ‘ Otto ’s Thrill ’ . Well in the end , some Dahlia pinnata legal action . They seem to be very late getting pass this class . I buy this one as a cutting rather than as a tuber . It ought to be developing a tuber as we talk . I ’m not going to bother lifting any dahlia this year , it ’s more trouble than it ’s deserving given my filth and status . I ’ll give them a mulch duvet once the icing has stop them off .
4 – Aster ‘ Little Carlow ’ . Yes , Aster I say . Aster aster aster . I ’ll have none of your symphyotrichum frill here thanks ever so much . These have grown much taller in their 2nd year , a good 3 metrical unit I ’d say . They are n’t full out yet , but some sporadic flowering has commenced .

5 – Athyrium niponicum , Japanese painted fern . This one lives in my living wall , build from scrap Sir Henry Joseph Wood earlier this year . It has filled out pretty well , and should be even right next yr . This fern is a good do - er for a shady spot , brilliant enough to be noticed and interesting in its fernyness .
6 – Aster ‘ Tonga ’ . A pathos bench rescue last wintertime that I only have around to plant this summertime . It is bloom like mad now , a welcome movement of late summertime colour . What , I learn you say ? Is it still summer ? Affirmative . Just .
Have a fabulous horticulture weekend , do n’t forget to check back in as links get added during the day .

I ’ll be back next weekend with another # SixOnSaturday
