We ’re at that time of year where it start to get harder to find something fancy to show , so I have a mixed old bag this week .

Here are my Six …

1 – Seedlings , strange .   Something has throw away a whole lot of seeds in the front garden , and they have germinated in situ with relish . If I was to guess I ’d say they are lychnis coronaria , but fourth dimension will tell .   I ’ll leave them be for now but will finally pot up a few then compost the rest .

2 – Beaucoup d’oignons .   You may recall that a few weeks ago I planted over 200 Allium cepa band in faculty .   They have begin to shoot sky-high . I plan to plant them out early next year , February perhaps , but for now they can grow on in the glasshouse .   I remark they are leaning a lilliputian towards the Light Within , I ’ll need to spread out them from clip to time .

3 – Box o ’ fern . I have a couple of gaps in the umbrageous border that I ’d like to fill up out . These dryopteris fern should do the trick . They should get to about 1 m tall and wide , maybe a bit less .   I got these cheap in a stock headway at our local ex - Wyvale garden centre .

4 – Pyrocantha .   Some of the berries have been pilfered , but in it ’s 2d wintertime this shrub is doing quite well , especially since I intend it was dying earlier this twelvemonth .   When planted it was a tiny plant in a 9 curium pot but it has grown quickly .   I have civilize it against the bulwark . It probably needs a little tweaking for shape and coverage .

5 – Fatsia japonica , bonkers flowers .   These look to me like a demented pill roller ’s idea of a molecular model . Although some of the more tender industrial plant have blackened in low temperatures , we still have n’t had a proper icing , so these are still looking good , if a little unmated .

6 – Hosta leafage , on its way out .
