Hibiscus and other sensational summer bloomers in Kansas

Hi GPODers !

It ’s been a very colored week here at Garden Photo of the Day , and the radical continues with Robert Walsh ’s vivacious blooms in Lenexa , Kansas . Robert has lots of full-grown hibiscus blooms on video display , a classic for fabulous summer container displays and perfect for what looks like a very sunny garden !

Jiminy Cricket ! Or rather , Grasshopper ! Though the two often get confused , especially when visualise in this bright green color , there are some cardinal differences that help me ID this chirper as a hopper . This first indicator is always antennae , with cricket having much long antennae than the picayune guy here . grasshopper also lean to have magnanimous , tough - looking physical structure and capitulum , a cricket would look a little smaller . But the dead give away ? Crickets are nocturnal , and often wo n’t be seen bathe in the sun during the twenty-four hour period like our unripened grasshopper enjoying a sit on a beautiful flower .

A slop garden bed can be a veridical garden challenge , particularly when it ’s peril and full - sun like this one Robert ’s managing . But as he leaven here , given the right audacious plant life , beaut can be establish anywhere .

This planting is red-hot raging hot ! A vibrant chicken and pink hibiscus is like the colorful pennant on what I ’m assuming is a stinking container arrangement with the multi - dark marvel that Bandana ® Cherry Sunrise lantana ( Lantanacamara‘Bante Cheriasun ’ , Zones 9–11 or as an annual ) and a flame nettle that rival this color scheme to a T.

However , a more subdued colour palette can be just as exciting and successful . The clean trailing begonia partner off perfectly with the bright white hibiscus , while the bright pink impatiens help to drew out the pink centre of attention in those same hibiscus blooms . A lovely variegated foliage plant ties is all together .

Lastly , one net hibiscus from Robert ’s collection , an unbelievable multi - one-sided hibiscus . While hibiscus are known for their variation in flower colour , and one plant can for sure acquire blooms of different colors due to environmental factor or the age of a flora , this combining was likely create through ingraft multiple dissimilar sort onto one bush .

give thanks you for sharing your colourful garden with us , Robert !
