Peab has been commissioned to build a new nursery and visitors ’ center in the Gothenburg Botanical Garden . The client is Västra Götaland Region , Västfastigheter construction and direction , and the contract is deserving SEK 346 million .
The Gothenburg Botanical Garden is one of West Sweden ’s largest attractions , with close to 600,000 visitors each year . The existing greenhouse was opened in the beginning of the 80s and now needs to be update to meet current and future demands . Peab has , therefore , been commission to build a new nursery split into sections with different mood zones and a newfangled visitors ’ center . Half of the fresh greenhouse will be open to the public , while the other half will contain industrial plant collections . The total construction will be 6,600 m2 , of which the glasshouse will be 2,800 m2 . Also let in in the task is the demolition of the existing glasshouse and outdoor landscaping .

The new buildings have stringent sustainability standards and will be built , for the most part , with circular material flows and reuse . Advanced greenhouse engineering science will be installed so as to sustain the right mood twelvemonth - round in the nursery , including a climate reckoner that runs the heating plant arrangement , lighting , respiration , ghost , and humidification . Everything will also be construct to accomplish the most efficient use of energy and water in the buildings .
