Highlights of 2021
Carolyn Hirning , in New Albany , Ohio , went through her photos from the year and is sharing some of her favourite with us today .
To set out with , my neighbor ’s chickens were unexpected ( but welcome ) visitors to my front yard .
I embed a patch of common milkweed(Asclepiassyriaca , Zones 3–9 ) in a pocket-sized garden bed a couple of geezerhood ago . Oh boy . I learned the toilsome means that it ’s good to keep this plant away from the manicured parts of your garden . The milkweed tunnels underneath the grease and comes up everywhere !

The milkweed is great for the pollinator , though , which was my goal . I collected a pound of dry out seedpods and donated them to theFranklin Soil and Water Conservation . This is the third year the organization has call for milkweed pod from the community . The seeds are spread on conservation corridor along doom highways that have been planted with aboriginal prairie perennial .
I had to have a large garden seam fix , which give me an chance to imbed new things . I concentrate mostly on aboriginal perennial , but these softheaded cosmos(Cosmos bipinnatus , annual ) from just a few seeds were all over the place . In former summertime , I rent Mother Nature take over the rest of the garden , which you’re able to see in the background signal .
There is a very honest-to-goodness apple Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree in the far end of our backyard that always has something interesting going on . These holes count like impairment from sapsucker , which are pecker that , as their name suggest , provender on the blackjack that oozes from the holes they make in Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree .

The best part of my summertime was sitting on the deck view the pollinators .
And lastly , I did n’t reap many vegetables this twelvemonth , but this goofy one made an visual aspect .
