We began our adventures in backyard volaille - keeping last summer like so many people duringCOVID-19 . I did n’t have intercourse I would shortly think of these square friends as appendage of the family .
“ Crazy chicken lady”—that ’s what they whispered when I walked into the figure heart where we had our shed built several year ago . I arrivedwith three Page of spectacles and a desire to expect at least half sane when I tell these plans were for a volaille coop .
While my design plan were particular , my goals were unsubdivided . I hope to contain all the things that maximise efficiency , promote a healthy living environment for our chickens and be visually appealing .

Coop Day!
Within a few months , the custom cage make it . We instal an automatic door , hung solar lantern and made easy - to - clean dropping boards from corrugate plastic . I sew together chicken fabric panels for the nesting boxes , hanging them with a strip of Velcro for soft remotion and washing . Jennifer Kutchey
Artificial sward squares in the nesting boxes make those areas easy to cleanse and keep tidy . We establish hardware cloth on the open eaves , over all the window and around the perimeter to assure the coop from predators .
In the spring , we had our first brood hen biddy . Before her three utter little chicks hatched , I made a customs duty brooder to fit securely in the fresh space under the nest boxes .

Moving In
The changeover to the novel coop was n’t the fluent . For several calendar week the hens laid their eggs everywhere but in the nesting boxes . Finally , the young woman started to embrace their fresh support quarter . And we stopped run into eggs laid on the floor and roosting bar all together . Jennifer Kutchey
The space in this coop keep my volaille math in bank check . We ’re at maximum content . As enticing as it is to add to the flock , the wellness of our chickens stay top antecedence .
