I am still recovering from last weeks jam - packed trip out to Michigan where the North American Rock Garden Society hold its annual meeting , host by the Great Lakes chapter . I ’ve been to about 7 of these annual meetings and report weekends , and I can confidently say that this one follow spectacularly .   As the current President of the United States of NARGS , I could easy be a trivial opinionative , but it would be no magnification to say that this finical event was unflawed – perfect spring weather condition which encouraged some of the finest alpines and woodland plant life into superlative bloom just in metre for a couple of hundred plant flake , and I really do n’t need to say that after the wintertime we all make it , was nothing more than a miracle in itself !

Being my first trip to Michigan , I was look forward to drive out from New England , even though the drive would take two sidereal day and take me through much of Ontario , Canada . I felt that I needed the fourth dimension to get my thoughts together for the plank meeting which preceded the case , and to relax a bit ( yes , sometimes , drive can relax me , although it strike the rental of a bragging , new Dodge Ram pick - up and a few hundred miles of white Trillium grandiflorum , the nobility of Niagra Falls and the magnificent spring woodlands and fruit orchards of the Great Lakes region . I should cite that this event co-occur with the spring migration of warbler and songbirds – the East Coast deciduous forest was live and singing in so many direction – why would I ever want to wing in a cramp plane ?
