Tour a Garden That Perfectly Balances Hardscape and Plants

Margherita Fabrizioand her husband , Andy Jordan , live in a beautiful historic 1918 home in the mettle of business district Ithaca , New York . When they purchased their dimension in 2009 , they sure shine in love with the house , but it was the landscape that really sealed the wad . The steep , Union - facing quarter - acre property sit around at the mouth of a mile - long defile . The beginning of the gorge ’s shale walls is the backdrop for their garden . The main walk ( build in the 1920s and ’ 30s ) provides a grand view from above and then condescend into the garden with stairs that mirror the graceful swoop of the native terrain .

Over the years , Margherita and Andy have work as a team to curate the nearly 100 - year - old world - made landscape painting into a harmonious garden touch base with its natural surroundings . It has been a labour of love as Andy has dug in to reconstruct and expand thehardscapeinto a serial operational and beautiful terraces , tract , andgarden roomswhile Margherita has used her artistic eye to edit out and raise the enamour softscape plant pallette .
