It ’s toilsome to believe , but today marks our 183rd day on the route – and we are just midway through our 50 state journey across America !
The stumble has flown by . Almost too quickly to be honorable . With all of the provision we put into this trip route , it is comic neither of us realized it was a saltation year . So , in realism , it is a 366 day trip around the land !
But , as you will see below , it has been full of so many incredible moments and memories . Memories of places , space and people that will continue in our hearts incessantly .
Here is a look back at the first 183 days , along with a unique 1 second - a - day video recording of our stumble so far .
Halfway Across America
Our first 183 days has covered 23 states , 3 countries and 19,345 miles of U.S. roadways.(See : Our State Selfie Photos Page )
Some might wonder if we are a bit behind . After all , if we are halfway through , should n’t we be at 25 province ? The reality is that by get over the West and Southwest first , we select in the magnanimous of the province first .
But were they ever full of majestic views and marvellous people !
From the Badlands of South Dakota to the towering Redwood Forests in California , we seem to always be in awe of what is before us . Now that we are midway across America , they all seem so phantasmagoric search back – Yosemite , Yellowstone , hulk watching off the slide in Seattle , or our night pass camp out under the stars in the middle of the Sonora desert .
So far , we have been to 22 National Parks and Monuments along our route . And what a gem they are ! We have been as mellow as 14,115 feet on top of Pikes Peak in Colorado , and as low as 8 feet below sea storey in New Orleans .
We have been able to take in views of the Pacific , the Gulf and the Atlantic Ocean , as well 100 of lakes and watercourse – and even the great Salt Lake of Utah . See : Our State Stories Map
But beyond all of the sights and sounds , there have been the masses we have meet along the way . skilful , wonderful and caring multitude that exist everywhere in this awesome country .
Then there are all of the little funny or sometimes slenderly frightening matter that take place along the way of life . You know , the ones that make the “ you think of when ? ” remembering .
Like the clip , without thinking of the moment , I requested from Google ’s Cortina to aid us find a Chinese Restaurant in Chinatown , San Francisco . She would have continued mouth for hours had I not come to the stop button !
There have been a few tense moments as well . A tornado monish near Dallas , Texas , a implosion therapy scare outside of Savannah Georgia , and a tardy night water main intermission under the camper . See : Dallas Tornado Scare
But all in all , there is n’t a single moment we would trade for get halfway across America at this point !
at last , we leave you with our trip ’s One - 2nd - A - Day telecasting . Each day , we select one photograph from the day to use as a memory . The exposure are then placed one by one into a continuous video magazine that takes in our travelling Clarence Day by day .
